3D modelling

Linked in with the integrated simulation, capital and operating cost estimation tool, is the production of a 3D model reflecting the plant design. This model provides the client with a visual representation of the project’s size and layout in a fully rendered form, along with visual confirmation of the outputs generated by the cost estimation tool.

Working together with Simulus’ other disciplines, 3D models become automated assemblies, regenerating on demand according to data extracted directly from the cost estimating tool.

Automated assembly of 3D plant models is a powerful tool that allows Simulus to quickly and accurately develop 3D models that reflect the plant design at any level of study, and the amount of detail in each can be tailored to the clients requirements.

  • Scoping Study - Plant 3D model showing major equipment items
  • Prefeasibility study (PFS) - Plant 3D model including:
    • Main mechanical equipment
    • Electrical substations
    • Main pipe racks and bunds
    • Buildings and roads based upon a flat site
  • Feasibility study - Plant design outputs fully supported by 3D model including material take offs for:
    • Concrete
    • Structural steel
    • Pipe racks and piping
    • Electrical equipment and cabling
    • Instrumentation

Construction drawings, fly-throughs and rendered animations can be easily extracted and produced from the detailed 3D model as required.
